The Angel fishes are one of the most popular aquarium fishes as they increase the beauty of a tank and definitely add a certain kind of grace to it. These fish species actually belong to the Cichlid family and are one of the easiest fish to look after. The Angel fishes were originally originated in South America. Normally, if the Angel fishes are correctly taken care of, then they can grow up to 6 inches tall. However, if they are kept in a larger tank and have a lot of space for themselves then they can also grow up to 10 inches tall.
Normally, its considered that Angel fishes can be kept along with any other Fish Species, however, though it is true, the Angel fishes can become more aggressive and territorial once they become adults. Therefore, it is recommended that Angel fish is kept along with its own kind. Also, unlike other fish species, it is very difficult to differentiate between male and female Angel fishes as they look the same. However, they can be differentiating when the female Angel fish carries eggs to breed. Keep on reading about Angelfish Information.
It is recommended that Angel fishes must be kept in a clean tank as possible. Though the minimum water capacity for Angel fishes is 20 gallons, it is better if they are kept in a larger tank so that they get enough space to grow as much as they can. Also, the tank must have a very good filtration system. You must be careful to not to keep a filtration system that creates an excessive current in the water as Angel fishes aren’t active swimmers. The temperature of the water must be maintained between 74 to 78 degrees F for pets and 80 degrees F for spawning. Also, you should see that the water must be at the average pH range from 6.5 to 6.9.
Fishes have two ways to reproduce which are either by giving birth to love babies or by laying eggs which are later fertilized and then hatched. Among this two types, Angel fishes are the egg layers. The female Angel fishes first lay their eggs in a row which is later fertilized by the male Angel fish by releasing their papilla in each individual egg. You will notice if the eggs have been fertilized after two days when you see that the fry begins wiggling their tails. After 4 to 5 days, the fry will start swimming and around the 7th day, they will start eating on their own.
Angel fishes come in various colors such as red, yellow, silver, black, gray and orange.
The Angel fishes can live up to 5 to 10 years according to how you care for them. Normally, Angel fishes are very easy to care for and are relatively hardy fish species. If you keep them in proper care and excellent water condition they can live a bit longer than 10 years as well.
